Nah, I'll Pass

I have never been a fan of Pete Carroll. He is a great coach and has won a National Championship and a Super Bowl. I respect his ability to coach, but the way he acts has always been a bit too much for me.  I dislike Pete Carroll so much, that I was rooting for the Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX (even with "deflategate" dominating national headlines in the weeks leading to the game). My dislike for him started when he fled USC for the NFL when his program was falling under scrutiny. I feel like he knew illegal things were going on, and he allowed them to happen on his watch. And the way he left put his players and recruits in a bad position, especially with NCAA sanctions imposed. The first time I really disliked him in the NFL is when the Seahawks played the Packers on Monday Night Football and the game was decided on a controversial call in which a Seahawks receiver wrestled with a Packers defensive back for the ball. The Packers clearly intercepted the ball, yet the replacement officials ruled it a Touchdown and gave the game to the Seahawks. Carroll and his team celebrated, but they knew they who should have won. Recently he came out and defended his play call in the Super Bowl and placed blame on his receiver for not making a strong enough play on the ball. It really bothers me when coaches want their players to be accountable, yet they themselves are not held to their same standards. It's a huge issue in sport at all levels, and creates nothing but problems as more and more athletes advance to collegiate and professional sports leagues.

I think your distaste for him is very justified.
